Yandaro also promotes sustainability by returning composted coffee pulp to farms as fertilizer. In Burundi, coffee is an intimate family affair. Most farms consist of fewer than 250 trees nestled in backyard gardens, where families hand-pick cherries to produce modest annual yields of 200–300 kilos.
