Notes of raspberry and dates, with a toffee-like sweetness. Origin: Gatara, Kayanza, Burundi Varietal: Bourbon Process: Washed This lot of coffee was processed at the Masha washing station in Kayanza, Burundi. Over 3200 local small-holder producers contribute their coffees to this washing station, and rely on the crop as their livelihood. Producers cultivate on average 297 trees, on roughly only 0.11 hectares of land. Harvest runs from April to June, followed by a long export journey from this landlocked origin. The region has a deep agricultural heritage, with the sub-hill that Masha sits on and is named after being famous for cattle farming. The station has endured periods of hardship, including the destruction of its main house and storage facility during Burundi’s period of political conflict in 1997. In the cup, this coffee tastes like raspberry and dates, with a toffee-like sweetness. We roast every Wednesday and ship every Thursday.
