The Kii factory is managed by the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society (F.C.S) supporting around 1,215 active farmers. Coffee cultivation in this region dates back to 1953, with each farmer typically tending to around 400 trees across a third of a hectare. To help improve both yield and cup quality, the cooperative partners with Sustainable Management Services Limited, a marketing agent focused on sustainable coffee production. In Kenya, most coffee is produced by smallholders who deliver their harvests to central processing units (locally known as factories) to produce clean, vibrant washed coffees.
