Soft berry notes with sweet citrus. A super-clean and balanced cup. From his 35.7-hectare farm at 2000-2100 MASL in Ethiopia’s west, Mohammed Aba Nura produces a softly structured, sweet, and delicate coffee unlike most Ethiopian naturals. Distinctive and refined, this beautiful lot is an absolute must-try. The Ethiopian Coffee Exchange (ECX) was established in 2007, requiring most coffees to be bulked into regional grades. This meant individual farmers couldn’t market their coffees separately, limiting recognition for unique micro-lots. In 2017, after sustained advocacy from specialty producers, the ECX introduced reforms allowing farmers to sell their micro-lots directly. This gave Mohammed the opportunity to process and market his own coffee under his name for the first time. This small but significant change has opened the door to more remarkable coffees from dedicated growers like Mohammed. We’re thrilled to share his work with you for the very first time and look forward to many more years of partnership.
