Creamy, full-bodied milk chocolate with zesty lime and a black tea-like elegance. This creamy and full-bodied coffee from Limu Kossa, Ethiopia, delivers notes of smooth milk chocolate, zesty lime, and elegant black tea. Grown at high altitude by respected producer Haider Abamecha, it’s a vibrant and beautifully balanced example of Ethiopian coffee from Jimma. Haider Abamecha owns and operates a 532-hectare farm in the Galle Kamese Kebele of Limu Kossa, in Ethiopia’s Jimma Zone. Sitting at 1865 to 2090 MASL, the farm is planted with JARC varieties 7410, 74140, and 7440, and its trees range in age from 4 to 14 years. Coffee is traditionally processed onsite: after pulping, the parchment is fermented overnight in water, then washed and dried on raised beds. Final dry milling takes place at a certified facility near Addis Ababa. Haider has worked in coffee for more than 30 years. After a period abroad in Saudi Arabia, he returned to Jimma and began sourcing and supplying coffee on a small scale. He launched his first export operation in 2011 and now oversees multiple certified farms and collection networks. His Limu Kossa farm produces around 20 containers of coffee annually and provides seasonal employment for over 4,000 workers. An on-staff agronomist manages year-round farm health and productivity. Beyond his original site, Haider has developed a second 300-hectare farm in the Dangaja Kebele of Limu Kossa, certified Organic and Rainforest Alliance (RFA), which began production in 2025. A third 120-hectare farm in nearby Gera is currently in development. His Kebena-based collection sites, which include eight washing stations, are also entering the RFA certification process. Haider’s operations are grounded in strong ethical and social values. His farms are certified under Organic, RFA, and C.A.F.E. Practices standards, and he’s implemented policies around human rights, age-appropriate labour, and worker wellbeing. Each year, he distributes school supplies and books to the local community and has invested in essential rural infrastructure, including roads and schools. The lots purchased by Osito this year come from Haider’s original Limu Kossa farm.
