Who this class is for Our coffee-roasting course is great for beginners who are curious about how to roast coffee beans at home, as well as those with roasting experience who want to increase their knowledge and improve their skills. What you’ll learn on the day This fun and fascinating day-long course will provide you with a great base knowledge of how to roast your own coffee. You’ll spend time with a member of Market Lane’s talented roasting team, and get hands-on experience with our Probat sample roaster. We’ll help you develop your tasting palate, and teach you how to identify (and rectify) roasting faults. There will also be interactive lectures that cover the physical and chemical changes that occur in roasting coffee. What to expect on the day Our coffee roasting course has a maximum of three participants, so you’ll get plenty of time to roast and taste coffees, and ask our roasters all your coffee questions. The day kicks off with a discussion of the theory behind coffee-roasting, followed by a coffee cupping (tasting) where you’ll learn to identify flavours and common roasting faults. You’ll then roast several batches of different coffees on our sample roaster before tasting and evaluating your roasts on the cupping table. At the end of the day, you’ll take home the coffee you roasted, as well as a bag of Market Lane beans!
