Forget what you think you know about Brazilian coffee. Espigao is here to shake things up. Roasted for filter, it trades the usual chocolate-and-nut flavours for something juicier. With strawberry jam upfront, it's rounded out with a smooth vanilla sweetness. A little unexpected, in the best possible way. Coffee runs in Gil Cesar de Melo’s family. His grandfather, Sr Miguel Constante, grew coffee in Campos Altos and passed that legacy down to Gil’s mother, Elizena, who in turn passed it on to him. In 1995, Gil planted his first six hectares. Since then, he’s steadily expanded his farm, investing in quality at every step. Located in the Cerrado Mineiro, the farm benefits from hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. A sweet spot for growing top-notch coffee, just like this one.
